There are many myths we can hear about the history of Holi. But the real story which is considered as the real source of celebrating Holi that is Holika Dahan, saving Prahallad by the Lord Vishnu. But when there is a question about playing color, then we can hear about the love of Radha-Krishna. It has been said that”since Krishna was black and Radha was so beautiful and that’s why Krishna was so afraid to confess his love to Radha of being rejected. For this Krishna colored Radha’s face with color. As a result, after then there was no difference between the Radha Krishna anymore. Since then the Holi has started to celebrate with color.”
Today, everyone at Holi gets covered with the powder as a celebration of Krishna and Radha’s love by forgetting all the difference of social status. The color also signifies the arrival of spring too.
