Holi means starting a new life by forgetting all the bad things, all the social inequality and it also signifies the victory of good over bad. Since color is the symbol of happiness, to represent all these good things and to spread the joyness among all the people by forgetting the difference between the rich and the poor the concept of playing with color has come. Because all of this things Holi is my favorite festival and every year I eagerly wait for this events.
What is the story behind Holi festival?
Holi is one of the major festivals of Hindus. It represents the arrival of spring. From the very ancient time, this festival is continued to celebrate. Though firstly it was only popular in India and Nepal but because of color splashing ritual, the celebration has now spread among all countries people.
Usually, we heard many myths or story on the question of the history of Holi. One of the myths about Lord Krishna. Since he was dark blue and was very worried about the rejection from his love Radha and that’s why he colored her face to erase the color difference between them. According to some people from there still, now Holi is celebrating as a symbol of Radha-Krishnas love.
But in the Bed and Puran different history are written. Which is we all know that “For saving Prahalad from the fire lord Vishnu appear and kill the culprit Holi? Basically, from here, the festival has named Holi and the message that “goodwill own over bad” has come.
Why we celebrate Holi?
At the beginning, I have already mentioned the reason for which Holi is my favorite festival. Basically, this is also the reason for celebrating the Holi. But still, more clearly I am explaining the reasons-
- To keep remember that, Know matter what is happening. But it is assured that” the goodwill own over bad”. By remembering that we try to keep ourselves from all the bad things.
- Since Holi is the symbol of spring we know that spring means the celebration of harvest and fertility. By celebrating Holi we celebrate the happiness of getting a new life with the season of spring.
- By celebrating Holi we celebrate the love and compassion. This is the day where there is no poor no rich. At Least for one day, we all splash each other by forgetting all quarrels all distance.
As I have previously mentioned about the story of Holi. There I have told that Holi has come from the Holika Dahan as Lord Vishnu burned the culprit Holika to save the honest Prahalad. From there the bonfire has come. From then to now every night before the Holi people gather and make a bonfire. It can be done by mutually with the society people or only by the family members.
As I am from a reputed family and we have our family temple that’s why we always make the bonfire in front of the temple so that other village people also can join and all the decoration related work came into under youngers responsibilities and the elder’s people remain busy in arranging food and receive the guests. Firstly, My Favorite Festival Holi to make the bonfire for Holika Dahan we collect the sufficient amount of salty, wood, huge pile of sticks and straws. After then we decor the place of the bonfire with much-colored powders.
We also bring a different kind of flowers to decor and to throw on the bonfire. After finishing all the decoration we set fire on the salty and keep moving around the fire. By doing so we believe that with this fire all the bad thing that we have done and all the negativity has also burnt in the bonfire.
During moving around the fire villagers sing a song and accompaniment of drums. It continues until the fire fades up. After then we take blessing from the elder persons and stay near the bonfire until the fire extinguisher. Then we clean the place of the bonfire and go to the bed.
The main celebration starting from the next day. On that morning we all rise early and take a shower. Then by wearing a white dress, we all go to the mandir for morning prayer. After finishing the prayer first My Favorite Festival Holi of all we splash color on elders leg by taking their blessing and they give the blessing to the youngers by giving Tilak to the forehead. By doing so we get the permission of playing with color.
Firstly, my friends come to our house to wish me and with them, my Holi party begins. The beauty of the Holi of our village is that here the old and female person also can enjoy. In fact, in this events, younger-elder, rich-poor, men-women all kind of people get mad with joy.
They forget all the rules, all the discrimination in this day and this is the beauty of the Holi.People cover one another face with color, Children’s spread colored water on everybody. All the people remain in a happy mood. They dance and sing loudly in a chorus.
After enjoying with family we go for a friends Holi party where only some of our close friends only get invitations. Every year we do this party in a poolside. There remain many kinds of delicious food, soft drinks and DJ for doing DJ party. Actually not DJ party it should be POOL DJ party as we all get into the water and there we started to dance.
Usually we over the party within the evening. Then we enjoy different kinds of delicious food and after that the important part we go for a bath to remove all the color. After that, I come back to my home as early as possible since many guest visit in this day. Then I just give time to my family and relatives share the day-long activities with my cousins.
That’s how I celebrate my favorite festival each and every year.Lastly, I want to say that, the celebration of Holi is not only for the joyness, or wearing a new dress or doing a party with friends. It’s a very important day because this is the only day where you can enjoy with your family members, relatives by forgetting all the tension, this is the day which reminds us that GOD is for all.
